Moon's karate club returned to North Port
triumphant again. The North Port Shotokan Karate Club who train
at the Boys and Girls club were able to return with 35 medals
after competing in the Regional Tournament. However it did not
start off well. The wild fires were causing havoc and there was
a major accident on I-75 holding up many competitors. When it
came time for the teams to line up, North Port only had 13. 17
were held up in traffic. Then came news three competitors,
sisters, would not be able to come due to a bereavement in the
family. The girls lost their grandmother that morning. So things
were not looking good. Eventually they started trickled in and
no-one missed their call so were able to compete.
The Regionals was a qualifier for the
Nationals and all of the North Port team were able to
qualify. The club's Chief Instructor Sensei Paul Moon was able
to get special permission for the three sisters to qualify for
Nationals as they had medaled in 2 previous tournaments. So all
was well.
