This page is dedicated to all our heroes, but in particular
our own personal heroes, our daughter Haley and our son Martyn.
Both of whom are currently serving in the United States Army.
Our daughter Haley, who is Julie's twin, has been in karate for
17 years. She joined the army whilst still in high school. She
is a combat medic, and qualified as an EMT. She loves her job
and has volunteered to go to Iraq, she feels that is where she
needs to be. However, she is not alone, there is actually a
waiting list of volunteers!
She is currently stationed in Hawaii where she will be for 3
years. Her last post was Germany. She intends to be a career
soldier and we couldn't be more proud of her.
Our son Martyn is our only son and he is our oldest child. He
has been in karate for 18 years. He graduated high school and
attended USF (University of South Florida) in Tampa, studying to
be an architect. Whilst in Tampa he was able to train with Mark Pinner. After a couple of years he decided college was not what
he
wanted, so he left. He spent some time talking with Haley's
recruiter and decided he too wanted to join the army but as a
combat engineer. So he jumped in front of his sister as she was
still in high school. He finished his training and was stationed
in Ft Hood Texas and then deployed to Iraq where he spent a
year. Whilst in Iraq, he started teaching his battalion karate,
on his return he continued to train on base. He is in Iraq, this time for 15 months, so he will be away for
2 Christmas's. He too wants to be a career soldier and we are
very proud of him.
So these are our personal heroes but we give thanks to all our
VETS, they are all our heroes, and to all our troops, home and
abroad WE SALUTE YOU ALL.
